Remember the Ford Start Concept unveiled earlier this year at the Beijing International Auto Show? Well, Ford has announced that this concept previewed a new baby model that will compete with models like the Fiat 500. The new model will go on sale in 2014 and will be priced at 8,000 ($12,500 at the current exchange rates).
The future baby model will be powered by a new 1.0-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost engine with direct injection and stop-start technology. This new engine will deliver between 80 HP and 125 HP, and a fuel economy of 60 mph and CO2 emission of less than 100g/km. This new engine will also be used for models like the Fiesta, Focus, and C-MAX ranges.
In order to be able to target the Fiat 500, this little number will have to come with plenty of customizable options. Ford has done their part by providing the small car with a new MyFord system, air-conditioning and sat-nav system, and more personalization options than ever before. The options will include everything from vinyl wraps to color-coded interior lighting which should allow it to give the Fiat a run for its money.
